I own 8+ tents. This is my first single wall and MSR. I have used it only in winter conditions because it is made for the colder months. It is not freestanding but because of the tunnel design I'm able to stake down the key anchors first, making sure enough slack is given, place the poles in the outer holes and then basically walk the length and clip it all in. Adjustments are made to tighten and depending on wind, guy the sides out to really make this a sturdy shelter. MSR has some innovative designs and tons of accessories. I just got back from using this at 9200 feet while climbing Freel Peak in the Lake Tahoe Basin. Night temps got into the single digits with little wind. I found a low lying area on an exposed ridge and dug 2-3 feet down into the snow. I vented the top and vestibule and was by myself and still found considerable condensation from 8 at night till the morning. This wasn't the first time it happened. This is the only drawback in my opinion because of the list of great features. Super light weight for a 2-person, spacious, easy setup, mostly winter condition tent. The top sheds heavy snow. The design creates amazing steep walls. The ceiling vent doubles as a light item gear loft. Super high ceiling (I'm 6'1" and have zero problem sitting up without touching the mesh ceiling). The inner tent door is huge with half being mesh. The vestibule is big and when you cut out a snow pit you can store two packs or cook. No guy lines attached so handle that yourself. With a little experimenting and some wind you can avoid most of the condensation. It isn't full bomber. I have the Hilleberg Jannu for those conditions. It doesn't have two entrances. I have the Exped Orion if a friend or my German Shepherd comes. I needed a light weight tent that can handle itself and provide space and can be set up if snow is falling or windy. Consider this tent. I've done tons of research and with 8 tents I might never experience the full potential of the Dragontail but I bet it could handle more.
