Product Description
The Extreme is a free standing aluminum pole tent, with a configuration that is extremely strong and sturdy. The 3-pole design gives you more "framework" to combat Mother Nature when she decides to send you a little stronger storm than normal. Assembly is easy with pole clips that quickly snap over the tent poles. The polyester fly and floor are urethane coated, with factory sealed seams for maximum weatherproofness. A door on each side of the tent makes getting in and out of the tent easy. You also get two large vestibules that you can use for extra gear storage. The vestibules also serve as automatic guy-out points when the weather gets a little nasty. The fly buckles to the tent, offering a much more secure attachment when compared to elastic cord. Extra large #8 zippers on the doors and vestibules add to the durability. Mesh roof vents increase ventilation and improve star gazing. Materials: Fly: 75D, 185T, Poly Taffeta, 1500mm Multi-pass Urethane coating, Floor: 75D, 185T, Poly Taffeta, 3000mm Multi-pass Urethane coating, Walls: 75D, 185T, Poly Taffeta, Mesh: Nylon No See-um Mesh, 40D, Frame: 8.5mm 7000-series aluminum. Includes Rain fly, 7000 Series Aluminum Poles, Pole Bag, Stake Bag, 6061 Aluminum Stakes, Guy Rope, Repair Swatches, Gear Loft, Mesh Storage Pockets, and Tent Bag with Drawstring.

Great Little Tent
By M. Watson
This is a great two person tent, with an incredibly high quality build, that is quick to set up. The tent has an entrance on the opposing side, with a dual mesh/waterproofed door, and a bad weather cover.I got this tent a few years ago, with the intent of doing some light camping and survival self-discipline. I had reviewed it on a list of "best tents" of the year 2008, and purchased it from a seller I don't recall for about $160--maybe more. I was disappointed that I haven't used it, though I have every intention of doing so; I've had a bit of a rough time, financially, but things are smoothing out, and I wanted to prep for use!It weights all of 5 pounds, maybe a bit more, just by my estimation. The bag is about a foot and a half long, and fits in my medium ALICE pack with plenty of room for more. The first thing I noticed when I took it apart to set it up is that it has some really nice METAL ground spikes. The freestanding tent (does not require staking to erect) is quite simple to setup; you won't need to use the directions (sewn inside the bag) after the first time. The two long poles are straight, flexible, copper colored, and color coded. They cross each other in the middle when you first put them into the tensioned position, and the crossbar pole goes over them. The poles are held in place by heavy duty plastic hooks, not sleeves, and is quite sturdy once erect. Once I got the tent up, there was an awesome surprise--a little 18" x 10" storage net that I could attach to the inside of the top of the tent, and any little odds and ends.My only real beefs with this tent are the included vestibule and the NOT included ALPS Mountaineering Extreme 2 Tent Floor Saver. I would essentially call the vestibule a rain cover, as the mesh ceiling doesn't look like it'd hold out much water; though it is also a place to store gear OUTSIDE of the main tent. You need not use the vestibule unless there is bad weather, but I suggest putting it on if you think there is remotely a chance of rain, because it'll be a pain to put on at the last second, as it requires tensioning and proper orientation, which isn't as "color coded" as the tent's original assembly. This is an inconvenience, but hardly enough of one to call this tent anything but great. I do, however, think that the floor saver, should be included, rather than an accessory. For the extra $20 or so, I would have suggested making it a part of the package.ProsHigh quality constructionEasy to assemble and break downCeiling storageTwo way entryVestibule for bad weatherDirections are sewn into the inside of the bagConsDoesn't come with floor saverVestibule seems a little slow to add by contrast to the speed of the tent setup

Great tent
By Gary Coryer
I bought this tent for back pack camping on scouting trips. The tent rolls into a relatively small bundle and fits quite nicely in my back pack. The carry weight is not bad and about as light as I'd go. (I'm not a big fan of the super lights, not rugged enough). I lead 21 boys to a week long summer camp last summer and used the trip as a shake down cruise for the new tent (don't want to find problems 15 miles into the wilderness). I packed for a back packing trip and walked to the campsite from the car with only my backpack and lived out of the pack/tent combo for a week without using the car again. The tent was completely dry all week even though we had a rainy week with three big storms, one including sustained 50 mph winds for about 30 minutes. For the majority of the week I keep my back pack out under the rain fly though I brought it inside the tent for the big wind storm. I had no problems whatever with the tent and I'm extremely please with it. As a result of this trip I did purchase the floor saver to protect the tent floor from wear on rough surfaces. This tent is SMALL. Its a back packing tent after all. I've used it on some subsequent webelos cub scout trips and my older son, a boy scout, came along to help lead the boys. He shared the tent with me, he's about 5'6 and I'm 6'1 and not a small man. No problem with the length of the tent or the width sleeping (packs out in the rainfly vestibules) however only one of us at a time can situp in the tent (sitting headroom for one). This was what we expected and works fine for us. Just be aware that this tent is not roomy for two, it is sufficient however. A couple of the cubs came over on the week long trip and commented how small my tent was. I flipped back the rainfly to show them how small it really was and commented "its so small there's no inside". I actually got a couple of "Really?'s from the cubs much to the amusement of my son and myself. At which point the cubs realized they had been had. I let them look around in the tent and explained this was the sort of tent they would be using in boys scouts when they cross over. They thought it was pretty cool.

Going strong for 6 years
By K_Wyman
I got this tent about 6 years ago off of steep and cheap for a killer deal. I was ecstatic when it came and that weekend I set it up in the backyard in the rain for a trial run. I have been in love ever since.First, set up is a breeze. For the first 3 years I had it I did exclusively solo backpacking with it and never had a problem setting it up solo. Once you figure out the orientation of the fly it too is amazingly fast and simple. It is lightweight and rolls up small. Great for backpacking. I personally don't want something TOO incredibly light since I feel it compromises durability. The size is perfect for 1 or 2 people, provided the 2 people are close and don't mind keeping packs out under the vestibule/fly. My husband and i have even put our headlamps into the attic/mesh shelf and played a game of cribbage in there. It really is plenty big!Only 3 ever so minor down sides which i don't even consider enough to knock it down to 4 stars:1. The zipper to the vestibule is a far reach when you are inside the tent. We remedied that by attaching some 2 foot long pieces of nylon strap to each zipper so we don't have to lean out.2. With 2 people breathing at night the tent does get some condensation inside, but not much at all. This is only on very cold nights when we close it all up. If a door is left unzipped, with just the mesh it is perfect.3. The mesh could be slightly sturdier. A cat jumped on it one day when we were camped out at a friend's place and tore holes in the top mesh. Easily sewed up, but still surprising.Overall, I have loved how well this tent stands up to the elements. We have put it through a lot, blowing dust/sand, rain, ice, snow, heat and it has handled it all. It beats out REI, Sierra Designs, and Mountain Smith tents, hands down.
